Uganda is among the world’s developing countries, with a population of over forty million people. Due to the growing population, many women are turning to family planning programs to maintain their competence at work and in other areas of their lives.
However, the lack of proper family planning has caused many youths in Kampala to argue that having too many children has led to financial problems, marital issues, fights, child neglect, and even killings.
Joan Nakiganda, a second-year student at Islamic University in Uganda Kampala Campus, noted that not all bad habits in the family come from having many children, but some individuals are raised in a way that promotes poor behavior. “Some people are groomed in a bad way that they bring their manners in the house, “said Nakiganda.
Conversely, Isaac Kibirige, a mass communication student at the same university, believes that most families in Uganda are poor due to the lack of proper child birth planning, which results in insufficient resources for each child.
Nevertheless, Nayiga Shakira, a student of Mass Communication at IUIU, emphasized that once families embrace family planning methods in their homes, they will know their children’s time, and there will be no need for DNA testing.

Family planning programs is key at assisting individuals in making informed decisions about their reproductive health. They provide various services, including contraceptive counseling, pregnancy testing, and birth control. Doctors recommend family planning because having many children at once can lead to health problems.
According to Hassan Semakula, a student of medicine at IUIU, family planning methods are necessary to allow women’s bodies to regain power after childbirth. He explains that it helps to protect mother’s lives in the country, especially those who may be weak or prone to sicknesses. “We need family planning methods in Uganda because some women are weak, and to avoid sugary, we need these methods to protect the life of our mothers in the country,” said Ssemakula
Ibrahim Ashraf, a mass communication student at IUIU in Kampala argued that economic factor in Uganda is one of the major reasons why people have to use family planning. He said many people have no jobs and cannot afford basic needs of themselves and family. “Just imagine what will happen if many people are not using family planning, “he stated. Family planning is essential in addressing this issue, as it helps to control the population. Despite some community members’ reservations, family planning programs remain an essential resource for many people.
They offer valuable services that help individuals make informed choices about their reproductive health. Whether one is trying to avoid pregnancy, conceive, or seeking information about their options, family planning programs can significantly benefit individuals and communities in Uganda.
