After 21days of Sabiiti’s family being stuck with an empty grave without any updates of their Son’s body’s finally UPDF handed over the body on Tuesday morning and he was laid to rest on same day in Mubali Kijura town council kabalorole district. It should be remembered that private Sabiti shot dead State minister for Labour Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola before taking his own life.
Col Engola who was buried on May 13 but the UPDF held onto Sabiiti’s remains until Tuesday.
The UPDF spokesperson, Brig Felix Kulayigye early this month said the army was not mandated to bury an officer who commits suicide or an act like Sabiti did but this was not the case he was sent off with the three-gun salute as a custom of UPDF and Uganda police.
Maj Micheal Tuliraba who represented UPDF from Bombo Military barracks, said that Sabiti deserved an official send off since he was a serving officer and promised family that they will get all the benefits but to only documented and known relatives.
